CEDAR
RAPIDS, IOWA . . . One Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic
Conference (IIAC) baseball player and seven IIAC softball players
have been named
to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VII
College Division Teams selected by the College Sports Information
Directors of America (CoSIDA) and announced Thursday.
Coe
College outfielder Ryan Schisler (Morrison,
Ill./Morrison) was named to the baseball Academic All-District
VII College Division Second Team. Schisler is a junior history
education major with a 4.00 grade point average.
Wartburg
College pitcher Angela Hartwig (Long Grove,
Iowa/North Scott) was a repeat selection to the softball Academic
All-District VII College Division First Team. She was joined
on the first team by Wartburg third baseman Amy Daniels
(Cedar Falls, Iowa/Cedar Falls), Luther College outfielder Kim
Hess (Paynesville, Iowa/Paynesville), and Central College
designated player Ryann Engholm (Bloomington,
Minn./Thomas Jefferson).
Coe
College shortstop Ashley Leonard (Cedar Rapids,
Iowa/Kennedy) and Central College outfielder Alysha
Overturf (Bettendorf, Iowa/Pleasant Valley) were named
to the Second Team and Luther College second baseman Anna
Simonson (Galesville, Wis./Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau)
was named to the Third Team.
Hartwig
is a senior biology major with a 3.59 grade point average. Daniels
is a senior business administration major with a 3.94 GPA. Hess
is a senior healthy and physical education major with a 3.78
GPA. Engholm is a senior exercise science /health promotion
major with a 3.74 GPA. Leonard is a senior business major with
a 3.67 GPA. Overturf is a senior exercise science/athletic training
major with a 3.73 GPA. Simonson is a junior biology major with
a 3.64 GPA.
Academic
All-District First Team members move on to the national CoSIDA/ESPN
The Magazine Academic All-America® ballot. The ESPN
The Magazine Academic All-America® Baseball Team is
scheduled to be announced on Tuesday, May 26 and the Softball
Team is scheduled to be announced on Wednesday, May 27.
To
be eligible for selection to the Academic All-District Team,
a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic and athletic
standing, be a starter or key reserve and possess at least a
3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale).
District
VII College Division includes NCAA Division II, NCAA Division
III and NAIA schools in Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Montana,
Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Alberta and Saskatchewan.
