CEDAR
RAPIDS, IOWA . . . A trio of Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic
Conference (IIAC) softball players have been named to the ESPN
The Magazine Academic All-America® College Division
Teams selected by the College Sports Information Directors of
America (CoSIDA) and announced Wednesday.
Wartburg
College third baseman Amy Daniels (Cedar Falls,
Iowa/Cedar Falls) was named to the 11-player First Team, while
Wartburg pitcher Angela Hartwig (Long Grove,
Iowa/North Scott) was selected to the Second Team and Luther
College outfielder Kim Hess (Paynesville, Iowa/Paynesville)
was a Third Team selection.
Daniels
is a senior business administration major with a 3.94 GPA. Hartwig
is a senior biology major with a 3.59 grade point average. Hess
is a senior healthy and physical education major with a 3.78
GPA.
To
be eligible for selection to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine
Academic All-America® Team, a student-athlete must have
reached sophomore academic and athletic standing, be a starter
or key reserve and possess at least a 3.30 cumulative grade
point average (on a 4.0 scale).
