WAVERLY,
IOWA . . . Former all-Iowa Conference performer Alan
Johnson has been named head coach of the Wartburg College
men’s golf program, according to Director of Athletics
Rick Willis.
Johnson
fills the vacancy left by former head coach Ted Reuter
who stepped down at the end of the 2008 campaign. Wartburg’s
new coach is no stranger to success on the links, having played
on the 2004 Iowa Conference championship squad and earning all-league
honors in 2005.
“I’m
excited to begin working with a good group of young, talented
players next fall,” Johnson said. “I think this
group will be able to strengthen the base of the team. I believe
my experience as a Wartburg student-athlete will be valuable
to the program.”
“We
are fortunate to have an individual like Alan able to step in
quickly and take a strong role in the program,” Willis
said. “He understands the success that Wartburg men’s
golf has had in recent seasons and is excited to return it to
that level soon.”
