LORAS' DZIUBLA AND SIMPSON'S CHRISTENSEN
NAMED TO AVCA ALL-REGION TEAM

CEDAR RAPIDS , IOWA . . . Two Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) volleyball players were named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Central Region Team announced this week.

Loras College senior setter Jenny Dziubla (Bartlett, Ill./St. Edward Central) and Simpson College junior setter Tara Christensen (Hinton, Iowa/Hinton) were named to the 12-member All-Central Region Team.

Dziubla was named IIAC Most Valuable Player last week and led the Duhawks to a 32-5 record, the 2008 Iowa Conference regular season and tournament titles, and a berth in the NCAA Division III Volleyball Championship. Christensen led the Storm to a 20-15 record and a runner-up finish in both the IIAC regular season standings and postseason tournament. Simpson was also selected for the NCAA Division III Volleyball Championship.

Coe senior outside hitter Shayla Chalker (Melbourne, Australia/Upwey) and Cornell junior middle blocker Laura Dudgeon (Bettendorf, Iowa/Bettendorf) received All-Region honorable mention. Chalker is a repeat All-Region honorable mention selection.
