CEDAR
RAPIDS , IOWA . . .The Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic
Conference (IIAC) is expanding its reach in cyberspace with
the launch of its own dedicated channel on YouTube, the leading
online video community that allows people to discover, watch
and share originally created videos.
“We
are very excited to offer this unique view inside the IIAC,”
said Iowa Conference Commissioner Chuck Yrigoyen.
“These pieces, all original content produced by the Conference
office, will tell the stories of the student-athletes, coaches
and staff behind the scenes who are the Iowa Conference. In
addition, there are many aspects of their lives outside of the
academic/athletics experience that will come out in these short
features.”
As
an extension of iowaconference.com,
the conference’s official Web site – the Iowa Conference
YouTube Channel will offer unique content for fans of the Iowa
Conference, as well as members of the YouTube community.
“We
live in the video age, for sure”, added Yrigoyen. “This
is a major enhancement to the publicity efforts of the Iowa
Conference, which has remained one of the great college athletics
traditions since its inception in 1922.”
Already
available for viewing at youtube.com/iowaconf
are recaps of the Conference’s Fall 2008 championships,
one-on-one chats with coaches and student-athletes, and an interview
with Buena Vista University President Fred Moore,
the 2008-09 chair of the IIAC’s Presidents’ Council.
A direct link highlighting the four most recent additions to
the Iowa Conference YouTube Channel has been added to iowaconference.com.
YouTube
is the world’s largest online video community allowing
millions of people to discover, watch and share videos. YouTube
provides a forum for people to connect, inform and inspire others
across the globe and acts as a distribution platform for original
content creators and advertisers large and small.
Any
recommendations or questions regarding the IIAC’s YouTube
site, as well as any problems that might be encountered while
navigating the site should be directed to IIAC Director of Information
Joshua Schroeder (jschroeder@iowaconference.com).
