DUBUQUE, IOWA . . . Loras College Director of Athletics Bob Quinn announced to the Loras community on Monday the hiring of Jeremy Hawkins as the next head men’s and women’s golf coach of the Duhawks. Hawkins replaces Jim Davison, who stepped down from his position this winter to take another position outside of the college.
Jeremy Hawkins brings a wide range of teaching and coaching experiences to the Loras programs, including his current position with The Meadows Golf Club in Asbury, Iowa. Currently, Hawkins is the Head Golf Professional at The Meadows, a position he will maintain in conjunction with the Loras position and has held since September of 2008.
After earning his degree from Winona State University in 1997 Hawkins returned to Cambridge High School in Cambridge, Minnesota, where he earned his diploma from, to be a teacher and coached the boy’s team.
Previously, Hawkins has also worked in the tri-states at Galena Golf Club, the Tri-State Golf Center, and as an assistant at The General at the Eagle Ridge Inn. He has also coached the Galena High School boy’s golf team.
Jeremy completed his PGA Professional Golf Management Program in 2006 and is a certified Class “A” Member of the PGA.
“We are thrilled to have a golf person of Jeremy’s caliber as our men’s and women’s golf coach,” Athletic Director Bob Quinn said Tuesday. “His enthusiasm and energy, coupled with his knowledge of golf will enable him to lead our program to great heights.”
