CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA . . . A total of 13 Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) cross country runners have be recognized for their work in the classroom by being honored with the 2009 United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic award.
Luther led the way with six selections — three men, three women — followed by Wartburg with three, Central with two, and Coe and Cornell with one each. In all, 188 women and 129 men received All-Academic recognition from the USTFCCCA.
Those honored from the Iowa Conference include:
Central — Angie Berry, Hannah Anderson
Coe — Lane Moser
Cornell — Chase Nowak
Luther — Kyle Buck, Jordan Lang, Karl Larson, Katie Dolan, Melissa Erickson, Kim Horner
Wartburg — Anna Kraayenbrink, Jennifer Kuiken, Lori Tlach
The USTFCCCA All-Academic award honors those student-athletes who have succeeded both academically and athletically. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must carry a minimum 3.3 cumulative grade point average and must finish in the top 35 among the field at their respective NCAA regional meet.
