BUENA VISTA'S MUHLBAUER
NAMED FINALIST FOR JOSTENS TROPHY

STORM LAKE, IOWA . . . For the second straight season, Buena Vista's Margo Muhlbauer has been named a finalist for the annual Jostens Trophy, which is presented annually to honor the most outstanding men's and women's basketball player in Division III.

This year on the women's side there was a three-way tie for 10th place, so after considerable discussions, the Committee felt the fairest method was to forward all 12 nominees to the National Selection Committee as finalists.

Muhlbauer closed her stellar career with a senior season that saw her lead the conference in scoring for the third straight year at 22.0ppg, while finishing the campaign ranked eighth in Division III.  In the regular season finale, she became only the fourth player in Iowa Conference history to reach 2,000 career points, finishing her career with 2,058.

A three-time First Team All-Conference selection going into this season, she leaves BVU as the most accurate free-throw shooter in program history at 84.4 percent, while posting 512 rebounds and 203 steals, defensively - both of which rank in the top-15 of the program's career list.

She was named IIAC Female Athlete of the Week four times in 2009-10, and was recently named an Academic All-American for the first time in her career.

The Manilla, Iowa, native helped lead BVU to a record of 17-10 overall (10-6 IIAC) this season and a trip to the semfinal round of the IIAC Tournament.

The winners of the trophy will be announced on March 10, with each individual receiving the award Thursday, March 18 at the Salem Civic Center in conjunction with the Men's Division III Championship being hosted in Salem, Va., on March 19-20.
