STORM LAKE, IOWA . . . Buena Vista University Director of Athletics Jan Travis has announced the resignation of head women’s soccer coach Hunter Balmer, effective June 30, 2010.
“This was definitely a tough decision,” says Balmer. “I've made lots of good friends here at BVU, and have been privileged to know some wonderful players and their families. It's been a great opportunity for me, and I want to thank Jan Travis, Dr. Betts, and President Moore for their continued support of our program.”
Balmer, who hails from Harrisonburg, Va., served as head coach for the past three seasons, and has decided to move back out east to be closer to his family and friends. Prior to becoming the program’s head coach, he served as its assistant.
“I would like to thank Hunter for giving of his time and talents to BVU and the soccer program,” Travis states. “We all want to wish him the best as he enters into a new chapter of his life.”
“BVU soccer has a bright future ahead of it,” Balmer adds. “I think we've laid the foundation for success through the players' hard work over the past few years. In the end, this was a very personal decision, centered around my desire to spend more time with family.”
