NEW ORLEANS . . . A total of seven Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) track & field squads were honored recently by being named Division III Track & Field All-Academic Teams by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
For the second consecutive year, the Wartburg College women's track & field team was named the USTFCCCA's Indoor Track & Field Scholar Team of the Year as the highest-placed school at the NCAA Championships that also qualified for All-Academic Team status. The Knights, who had a 3.26 cumulative GPA through winter 2010, won their second consecutive NCAA women's indoor title in March by four points (33-29) over Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
The Knights were joined on the list by women's teams from Central (3.16 cumulatieve GPA), Cornell (3.23), Loras (3.29), and Simpson (3.48), and men's teams from Loras (3.11) and Simpson (3.11).
A total of 106 women's teams and 68 men's teams attained All-Academic status.
