Katch, a sophomore center, led Simpson to its second
straight Iowa Conference Tournament title. She averaged 16.0 points,
4.0 rebounds and 3.0 blocks in two Tournament games. She shot
59.1 percent (13-of-22) from the floor and 66.7 percent (6-of-9)
from the free throw line in victories over Loras (63-55) and Luther
(81-68). She had matching 16-point, four-rebound performances
in both games. She shot 66.7 percent, had two steals and an assist
against Loras in the semifinals. In the Championship game, she
shot 53.8 percent and had six blocks.

Staley, Buena Vista University, Charter Oak, Iowa/Boyer Valley
Staley, a senior forward, averaged 19.5 points,
5.5 rebounds and 3.5 steals in two games during the week. She
shot 51.9 percent (14-of-27) from the floor and 76.9 percent (10-of-13)
from the free throw line in victories over Wartburg (68-65) and
Dubuque (67-61). Staley scored 19 points (on 7-of-12 shooting),
had five steals and four rebounds against Wartburg. Against Dubuque,
she scored 20 points, including her 900th career point, to go
along with seven rebounds, two steals and two assists.

Straate, a senior forward, averaged 18.3 points,
10.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 2.7 blocks and 2.3 steals in three
games during the week. She shot 63.6 percent (21-of-33) from the
floor and 81.3 percent (13-of-16) from the free throw line in
victories over Central (97-72), Cornell (81-55) and Buena Vista
(72-69) as Luther took over sole possession of second place in
the Conference. She scored 17 points (on 7-of-13 shooting), had
nine rebounds, two steals and a block against Central. Against
Cornell, Straate scored 12 points (on 3-of-6 shooting), had seven
rebounds, four steals, three blocks and three assists. She finished
the week with a double-double against Buena Vista, scoring 26
points (on 11-of-14 shooting) to go along with 14 rebounds, five

Pucci, Loras College, West Dundee, Ill./Jacobs
Pucci, a sophomore guard, averaged 22.5 points,
6.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists while playing all 80 minutes in two
games during the week. She shot 40.5 percent (15-of-37) from the
floor, including 45.0 percent (9-of-20) from behind the 3-point
arc, and 75.0 percent (6-of-8) from the free throw line in victories
over Dubuque (67-65) and Buena Vista (75-71). Against Dubuque,
she scored 21 points (on 7-of-19 shooting), grabbed seven rebounds,
and had four assists. Pucci scored a career-high 24 points (on
8-of-18 shooting), had five rebounds, two assists and two steals
as Loras won at Buena Vista for the first time since the 2000-01
season and moved the Duhawks into a third-place tie in the Conference.

Maguire, a senior guard, averaged 28.3 points, 5.3
assists, 3.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals in three games during the
week. She shot 55.0 percent (22-of-40) from the field, including
68.2 percent (15-of-22) from behind the 3-point arc, and 89.7
percent (26-of-29) from the free throw line in victories over
Coe (90-68) and Cornell (81-73), and a loss to Simpson (91-82).
Maguire scored 24 points (on 7-of-17 shooting), had six assists,
three rebounds and three steals against Coe. In an overtime loss
to Simpson, she became the fourth player in school history to
score 1500 career points as she scored 32 (on 9-of-14 shooting)
to go along with three steals, a rebound and an assist. She finished
the week with a 29-point, nine-assist, five-rebound outing against
Cornell, connecting on 6-of-9 shots, including all five 3-point
attempts, and 12-of-13 free throws.

Maguire, a senior guard, averaged 24.0 points, 11.0
assists and 6.0 rebounds per game during the week. She shot 38.7
percent (12-of-31) from the floor, including 42.9 percent (6-of-14)
from behind the three-point arc, and 85.7 percent (18-of-21) from
the free throw line in victories over Wartburg (91-76) and Dubuque
(93-64). She fell one point shy of her career-high as she scored
33 points (on 9-of-17 shooting) against Wartburg to go along with
nine assists and six rebounds. Against Dubuque she had a career-high
13 assists to go along with 15 points (on 3-of-14 shooting), six

Whiton, Simpson College, Panora, Iowa/Perry
Whiton, a sophomore forward, averaged 17.7 points,
7.7 rebounds, 2.3 steals and 1.3 assists in three games during
the week. She shot 57.5 percent (23-of-40) from the floor and
63.6 percent (7-of-11) from the free throw line in victories over
Coe (70-47), Wartburg (75-50) and Cornell (75-47) as Simpson improved
to 6-0 in Conference-play. Whiton scored 14 points (on 6-of-15
shooting), had six rebounds, a steal and a block against Coe.
She scored 18 points (on 9-of-10 shooting), had seven rebounds,
five steals and two assists against Wartburg. Whiton finished
the week with a double-double against Cornell, scoring 21 points
(on 8-of-15 shooting) and grabbing 10 rebounds. She also had two
assists and a steal.

Palmer
Merriman, a freshman guard, scored 20 points, had
five rebounds, two steals and an assist in Cornell’s 62-57
victory over Buena Vista. She shot 63.6 percent from the floor
(7-of-11), including 60.0 percent (6-of-10) from behind the 3-point
arc as Cornell snapped Buena Vista’s 28-game Conference
regular season winning streak and halted its own 18-game Conference
losing streak. In loses to Wartburg (75-70) and Waldorf (76-50),
she scored 10 and three points, respectively.

Staley, a senior forward, averaged 21.0 points,
7.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.0 assists in two games during the
week. She shot 52.2 percent (12-of-23) from the floor, including
3-of-7 from behind the 3-point arc, and 78.9 percent (15-of-19)
from the free throw line in victories over Mount Marty (73-57)
and Nebraska Wesleyan (89-69). Staley scored 11 points, had eight
rebounds (0-8), an assist, a steal and a block against Mount Marty,
becoming the fourth player in school history to record 200 career
steals. She scored a career-high 31 points (on 11-of-14 shooting)
against Nebraska Wesleyan to go along with six rebounds (1-5),
three steals and an assist.

Kay, a senior forward, averaged 11.5 points, 8.5
rebounds and 4.0 assists in two games. She shot 40.0 percent (6-of-15)
from the floor, including 75.0 percent (3-of-4) from behind the
3-point arc, and 66.7 percent (8-of-12) from the free throw line
in a loss to #9-ranked Scranton (71-54) and a victory over Bates
(82-71) at the adidas/D-3 Desert Shootout in Las Vegas, Nev. In
a losing effort, Kay scored 12 points (on 3-of-9 shooting), had
five rebounds (2-3), three assists and two steals. She recorded
a double-double the third-place game against Bates, scoring 11
points (on 3-of-6 shooting) and grabbing 12 rebounds (2-10) to
go along with five assists, a steal and a block.

Pucci, a sophomore guard, averaged 18.0 points, 3.0
steals, 2.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists in two games during the week
as Loras won its first two games of the season. She shot 55.6 percent
(10-of-18) from the floor, including 7-of-12 from behind the 3-point
arc, and 90 percent (9-of-10) from the free throw line in victories
over Ashford (71-50) and Edgewood (57-55). Pucci scored 18 points
(on 5-of-8 shooting), had three assists, two rebounds (0-2) and
two steals against Ashford. In the overtime victory over Edgewood,
she scored 18 points (on 5-of-10 shooting), had four steals, three
rebounds (0-3) and an assist.

Maguire, a senior guard, averaged 23.3 points, 6.3
assists, 4.7 rebounds and 3.0 steals in three games during the week.
She shot 55.3 percent (21-of-38) from the floor, including 55.0
percent (11-of-20) from behind the three-point arc, and 70.8 percent
(17-of-24) from the free throw line in victories over Central (101-69)
and Colorado College (85-63) and in a loss to Division II Colorado
School of Mines (93-75). Maguire became Buena Vista’s career
assist leader against Central as she had seven helpers to go along
with 28 points (on 9-of-11 shooting), four rebounds (1-3) and four
steals. In a losing effort against Colorado School of Mines, she
scored 20 points (on 5-of-15 shooting), had five assists, three
rebounds (1-2), and three steals. Maguire finished her week with
22 points (on 7-of-12 shooting), seven rebounds (1-6), seven assists
and two steals against Colorado College.

Staley, a senior forward, averaged 20.0 points, 8.7
rebounds and 2.7 steals per game in three contests during the week,
shooting 23-of-44 from the floor (52.3 percent) including 6-of-14
on three-pointers (42.9 percent). In a 91-88 overtime loss to St.
Olaf, she scored 20 points on 6-of-14 shooting from the floor and
6-of-6 from the free throw line. She also had six rebounds (3-3)
and a steal. She scored 19 points on 8-of-16 shooting, had eight
rebounds (1-7), four steals and a block in a 65-63 loss to Lakeland.
In a 113-75 victory over Finlandia, Staley recorded her fourth career
double-double, scoring a career-high 21 points (9-of-14 shooting)
and grabbing 12 rebounds (3-9). She also had three steals, two blocks
and two assists. The 113 points scored by Buena Vista is the second-highest

Huber, a sophomore guard, averaged 17.5 points, 4.0 steals, 2.5
rebounds and 1.5 assists per game in two games at the Wartburg Tip-Off
Classic. She shot 57.9 percent from the floor (11-for-19), 50.0
percent on 3-pointers (7-for-14) and 6-for-6 from the free throw
line. In a 79-62 win over Bethany Lutheran, she scored a game-high
18 points (in 6-for-10 shooting), grabbed four rebounds (0-4), and
had three steals and two assists. Huber scored a team-high 17 points
(5-for-9), with five steals, an assist and a rebound in a 71-66
victory over St. Olaf.
