Mary Bridget Corken, Loras College, Dubuque, Iowa/Wahlert
Corken, a senior, won the women’s individual title at the 2008 Iowa Conference Cross Country Championships. She covered the championship course in 20 minutes, 25.72 seconds, outdistancing Wartburg’s Anna Kraayenbrink by 10 seconds. Corken, who led Loras to a third-place finish, captured the third individual title for the Duhawks in league championship history. She also earned All-Iowa Conference honors for the third time. Kraayenbrink, a junior, won the individual title in a multi-divisional field of 444 runners at the UW-La Crosse Tori Neubauer Invitational. She covered the 6-kilometer course in 21:37.1 to win by 6.9 seconds. Kraayenbrink, who recorded her fifth straight top-6 finish, led No. 3 Wartburg to a third-place finish out of 25 teams with 146 points, eight points clear of No. 2 UW- Eau Claire.

Kraayenbrink, a junior, finished second in field of 169 runners at the Dan Huston Invitational. She covered the 6-kilometer Max Cross Country Course in 22:09, 41 seconds behind the meet champion. The highest-finishing Iowa Conference runner at the meet, she helped guide the Knights to the team title with 43 points. Wartburg beat No. 5-ranked UW-La Crosse by 37 points.

Corken, a senior, captured fifth place in a field of 172 runners at the Division III Pre-National Invitational at Hanover College. She covered the 6-kilometer course in 21:58.99, 34.72 seconds behind the meet winner, running the first sub-22:00 time in school history. Corken led Loras to a fourth-place finish out of 16 teams with 114 points.

Anna Kraayenbrink, Wartburg College, Sioux Center, Iowa/Sioux Center
Kraayenbrink, a junior, captured third place in a field of 497 runners in the Maroon (Women’s Division III) race at the Roy Griak Invitational last weekend. She finished with a time of 22:16.43, 16.6 seconds behind champion Becca Jordahl of UW-River Falls. The top IIAC finisher at the meet, Kraayenbrink led the Knights to a runner-up finish (out of 36 teams) with 151 points, defeating No. 5 UW-La Crosse and trailing only No. 2 UW-Eau Claire in the final team standings. Kraayenbrink, a junior, took sixth in a field of 251 runners at the Woody Greeno Invitational. She covered the 6-kilometer course in 22:05.2, 1:03.2 behind the winner. She was the top Division III finisher at the meet. Kraayenbrink guided Wartburg, ranked No. 12 on USTFCCCA Division III poll, to third-place finish overall with 120 points. The Knights were the highest-placed non-Division I team at the meet. Defeated Nebraska’s Jennifer Pancoast and Jen Webers, each of whom ended among top 64 at 2007 Big 12 Championships and Kansas State’s Liliani Menedez, a 2007 all-Big 12 honoree.

Kraayenbrink, a junior, placed second in a field of 328 runners at the Les Duke Invitational. She completed the 6-kilometer course in 22:38, 30 seconds behind the race-winner. The top IIAC finisher at the race, Kraayenbrink led Wartburg to the team title with 104 points.

Angie Berry, Central College, Norwalk, Iowa/Norwalk
Berry, a junior, finished third in a field of 124 runners at the Central Dutch Invitational. She finished 42 seconds behind the winner, completing the 5-kilometer course in 18:52. The top IIAC finisher at the meet, Berry led the Dutch to a third-place finish in the eight-team field with 79 points.

Rachelle Hawkins, Cornell College, Boise, Idaho/Bishop Kelly
Hawkins, a senior, finished second out of 86 runners in the Mount Mercy Mustang Gallop. She completed the 4,000-meter course in 15:45, 30 seconds behind the winner. She shaved 14 seconds off last year’s time on the same course and finished 28 seconds ahead of third place. Hawkins helped the Rams claim the team title for the second year in a row.
