Erion, Loras College, Decorah, Iowa/Decorah Erion, a senior, was named Most Valuable Performer at the Iowa Conference Championship for the second consecutive year after winning two individual titles and placing in the top-four of five events. She won the long jump (5.47 meters) and triple jump (11.10) as well as being a member of the runner-up 4x100 relay team (48.48 seconds) that provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championship. Erion finished third in the 400-meter hurdles (65.19 seconds) and fourth in the javelin (38.48 meters). Last weekend, she placed third in the heptathlon with an NCAA provisional score of 4336 points. Pankow, Luther College, Palatine, Ill./Palatine Pankow, a senior, won the Iowa Conference heptathlon with an NCAA provisional qualifying score of 4467 points. Last year’s heptathlon runner-up, she bested the 12 competitor field by 53 points. She posted top-four marks in all seven events – long jump (1st, 5.25 meters), 800-meters (2nd, 2:23.29), 100-hurdles (2nd, 15.67 seconds), 200-meters (2nd, 26.53 seconds), high jump (t-3rd, 1.46 meters), shot put (4th, 9.16 meters) and javelin (4th, 31.36 meters). Whisner, Central College, Adel, Iowa/ADM Whisner, a senior, automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships in the javelin with a mark of 158-feet 5-inches at the Drake Relays, good for a sixth-place finish in the combined University-College Division. The mark, which broke her own school record by more than nine feet, surpassed the U.S. Track and Field B Standard by more than four feet and was just two feet shy of an A Standard which would automatically qualify her for the U.S. Track and Field Championships in June. Klemm, Loras College, Gurnee, Ill./Warren Klemm, a senior, automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships in the shot put with her performance at the Dick Young Invitational. She won the event with a meet and school record mark of 48-feet 8-inches, currently the top mark in the nation by over three feet. She also won the hammer with a provisional qualifying mark of 165-feet 4-inches, and placed eighth in the discus (129-feet 3-inches). (IIAC Female Athlete of the Week) |

Martin, Buena Vista Univ., St. Louis, Mo./Gateway Inst. of Tech. Martin, a junior, was the top Division III finisher in the 100- and 200-meter dashes at Drake University’s Jim Duncan Invitational, provisionally qualifying for the NCAA Championships in the 200 while narrowly missing a PQ in the 100. She finished third in the 200-meter dash in a time of 24.94 seconds, breaking a nine-year old school record. Her 12.34 second finish in the 100-meters was seventh in the 46-runner field and 1/100th of a second shy of the NCAA qualifying mark. Martin was also a member of the 10th-place finishing 4x100 relay team (51.25 seconds). |

Klemm, Loras College, Gurnee, Ill./Warren Klemm, a senior, provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships in two events with her performance at the Loras Mid-Week Open. She set the Loras school record in winning the hammer throw with a qualifying mark of 52.16 meters. She also won the shot put with a qualify throw of 13.78 meters. Klemm also placed third in the discus with a throw of 38.03 meters. |

Whisner, Central College, Adel, Iowa/ADM Whisner, a senior, finished in the top-7 of four events at the Washington (Mo.) University Invitational highlighted by an NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the javelin. She won the event with a mark of 43.88 meters, bettering the NCAA PQ standard by 4.64 meters and falling just shy (0.32 meters) of the automatic qualifying mark. She also finished third in the shot put (12.63 meters), sixth in the hammer (39.91 meters) and seventh in the discus (35.04 meters). |

Hagerty, Simpson College, Tama, Iowa/South Tama Hagerty, a senior, placed in the top-10 of three events at the Wartburg Open, highlighted by first-place finish in the javelin with an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 39.53 meters. She also finished seventh in the hammer (37.43 meters) and ninth in the shot put (11.52 meters). |
