Lauren Bucklin, Simpson College, Bondurant, Iowa/Bondurant-Farrar
Bucklin, a junior, was named Most Valuable Performer at the 2009 Iowa Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships after sweeping titles in the 100- and 400-meter hurdles and running legs on Simpson’s third-place 4x100- and 4x400-meter relays. She set a school and Conference meet record with a blistering 13.92-second pass in the 100 hurdle preliminaries Friday. Bucklin’s mark shattered the mark of 14.32 set by Wartburg’s Lucy Joseph at the 2007 Championships. Bucklin also won the 400 hurdles in 1:03.31. (IIAC Female Athlete of the Week)

Lauren Bucklin, Simpson College, Bondurant, Iowa/Bondurant-Farrar
Bucklin, a junior, automatically qualified for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the 100 hurdles and provisionally qualified in the 400 hurdles with her efforts at the Central Open May 2. Her 100 hurdle time of 14.09 is the best ever posted by an Iowa Conference hurdler and currently leads the nation. Bucklin’s time in the 400 hurdles is a personal best and currently leads the Iowa Conference. She also ran on a runner-up 4x100 relay that posted a season-best time. (IIAC Female Athlete of the Week)

Faith Burt, Wartburg College, Cedar Falls, Iowa/Cedar Falls
Burt, a freshman, posted four top-3 efforts in four events over the weekend. She was part of both of Wartburg’s first Drake Relays event champions as a member of the winning 4x400 (3:44.24) and sprint medley (3:58.87) relays. Burt also ran on the third-place 4x100 relay (47.78 finals /46.77 prelims). The Wartburg 4x100 and 4x400 relays each surpassed NCAA Division III automatic qualifying standards. The 4x100 preliminary time was a Wartburg school record and is currently the top time in Division III. Burt also placed second in the 100-meter dash (12.87) at the Simpson College Kip Janvrin Open Friday night. (IIAC Female Athlete of the Week)

Hannah Baker, Wartburg College, Keota, Iowa/Keota
Baker, a junior, turned in a pair of high provisional qualifying efforts in the 400 as one of only two Division III competitors to make the finals at the Kansas Relays. She also anchored the 4x400-meter relay to an NCAA automatic qualifying and NCAA Division III-best time with a fourth-place finish in the finals. The Knights posted the best time in preliminaries. Akeya Aimable, Wartburg College, Waterloo, Iowa/West
Aimable, a senior, set a school record and turned in a provisional national qualifying mark in the triple jump at Wis.-Platteville. Her jump of 38 feet, 4 ¼ is the fourth-longest in Division III. She ran on second-place 4x100 relays at the Jim Duncan Invitational (48.09) and the Wis.-Platteville Invitational (48.31) that were NCAA provisional marks as well.

Ashley Schnell, Coe College, Lincoln, Neb./North Star
Schnell, a sophomore, automatically qualified for the 2009 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a 4:31.62 clocking in the 1,500-meter run at the Central Invitational. Her time is the second fastest in the nation. (IIAC Female Athlete of the Week)

Hannah Weiss, Loras College, Dallas Center, Iowa/Dowling Catholic
Weiss, a junior, won the 800-meter run at the Emory Invitational March 21 in an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 2:14.22. The time is also the third fastest run by a Loras runner.
