February 6 Elissa Schmidt, Luther, Fr.
Named Iowa Conference Female Swimmer of the Year after winning three individual events and four relays at the Conference Championship, setting six meet records.
January 30 Molly Tomlonovic, Loras, So.
Won the 100-yard freestyle and swam the anchor leg of two winning relays in the Duhawks’ dual victory over Morningside. Won the 100 freestyle by over three seconds with a personal season-best time of 56.48. Swam a 25.42 freestyle split in the 200-yard medley relay and a 25.73 split in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
January 23 Maria Gebel, Coe, Jr.
Won both the one and three-meter diving events in the Kohawks’ dual against Morningside; and finished second in both events in a dual against Grinnell. Recorded marks of 255.6 (Morningside) and 256.0 (Grinnell) in the three-meter dive, and 229.25 (Morningside) and 224.0 (Grinnell) in the one-meter dive. Scores in the three-meter dive allow her to apply for consideration for selection to the NCAA Championship.
January 16 Elissa Schmidt, Luther, Fr.
Garnered six top-3 finishes at the Grinnell Invitational. Finished second in two individual events – 200-yard individual medley (2:18.21) and 100-yard freestyle (56.04). Was a member of the winning 400-yard freestyle relay team (3:45.60), runner-up 200-yard freestyle relay team (1:43.52), and third-place 400-yard medley relay team (4:20.04) and 800-yard freestyle relay team (8:18.52, a school record).
January 9 Naomi Fottral, Coe, So.
Won three events in the Kohawks’ 110-91 dual victory over Augustana (Ill.). Individually she won the 200-yard medley (2:25.27) and the 200-yard butterfly (2:27.25). Swam a 34.56 split on the second leg (breaststroke) of the winning 200-yard medley relay.
December 12 Valarie Hoops, Luther, Fr.
Set school records in the 500-yard and 1000-yard freestyle events, breaking the old marks set in 1996. Won the 500-yard free in 5:23.41, breaking the previous record by 58/100ths of a second. Won the 1000-yard free in 11:04:82, breaking the previous record by 10.17 seconds.
November 21 Elissa Schmidt, Luther, Fr.
Won the 100-yard and 200-yard freestyle in Luther’s dual victory over Coe (165-70) She posted a time of 56.03 in the 100 free and 2:01.73 in the 200 free.
November 14 Rebekah Reid, Loras, Sr.
Won two individual events and a relay in Loras’ one-point loss to the Illinois Institute of Technology (105-104). Won the 1,000-yard freestyle by 6.77 seconds in a time of 11:22.12 and the 500-yard freestyle by 1.33 seconds in a time of 5:36.41. She was a member of the winning 400-yard freestyle relay, swimming a 1:02.98 split as the team finished in 4:01.97.
November 7 Kristine Brick, Luther, So.
Set two pool records in Luther’s 190-40 dual victory over St. Mary’s (Minn.). Won the 200-yard individual medley in 2:18.14 and the 100-yard butterfly in 1:02.13. Also a member of the first-place 200-yard medley relay team, swimming a 27.91 second split as the team swam a time of 1:58.87.
