COE'S BURKLE, WARTBURG'S WEBER & GALLES
NAMED TO CoSIDA/ESPN THE MAGAZINE
ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT TEAMS

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA . . . Two Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) wrestlers and one IIAC women's golfer have been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VII College Division At-Large Teams selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and announced Thursday.

The at-large team consists of men’s fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, water polo and wrestling.

Wrestlers Tyler Burkle (Coggon, Iowa/North-Linn) of Coe and Adam Weber (Gilbertville, Iowa/Don Bosco) of Wartburg were named to the First Team, as was Wartburg women's golfer Jordan Galles (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Cedar Falls).

Burkle is a senior business administration major with a 3.90 grade point average. A two-time Iowa Conference Champion, he finished his career as a three-time All-American, winning the 165-pound title at the 2008 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships and placing third at 165 in 2009 and at 184 in 2010.

Weber is a junior business administration major with a 3.96 grade point average. He capped his 2010 season by capturing All-America honors with a sixth-place finish at the 2010 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships. He also received the Elite 88 Award for Division III wrestling.

Wernimont is a senior biology major with a 3.55 GPA. He completed his senior year with a perfect 44-0 record and a second consecutive NCAA championship at 157 pounds. Wernimont was also a three-time All-American and a three-time Iowa Conference Champion.

Galles is a junior biology major with a 3.67 grade point average. is a senior biochemistry major with a 3.74 grade point average. She was earned All-Iowa Conference honors with a fifth-place finish at the 2009 Iowa Conference Championships and placed 35th out of 105 golfers at the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship as the Knights made their fifth national tournament appearance in six seasons.

Academic All-District First Team members move on to the national CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America® ballot. The ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America® Men's At-Large Team is scheduled to be announced on Tuesday, June 8 and the Women's At-Large Team is scheduled to be announced on Thursday, June 10.

To be eligible for selection to the Academic All-District Team, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic and athletic standing, be a starter or key reserve and possess at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale).

District VII College Division includes NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA schools in Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Alberta and Saskatchewan.
