CEDAR
RAPIDS, IOWA . . . Coe College senior linebacker Tate
Harrison (Nevada, Iowa/Nevada) and University of Dubuque
junior wide receiver Michael Zweifel (Whitewater,
Wis./Whitewater) have been named to the 2009 D3football.com
preseason All-America team. Both were Second Team selections.
This
is the second consecutive season - and third time overall -
that a Kohawk football player has been tabbed by the online
publication, joining Zak Gordon in 2000 and Tommy Breitbach
last season. Breitbach was a second team choice as well, while
Gordon was named to the first team.
A
second-team D3football.com All-West Region selection after last
season, Harrison tallied 120 tackles during the 2008 campaign,
tying fellow senior linebacker Calvin Thomas
(Westchester, Ill./St. Joseph's) for the second-most in school
history for a single season. His 67 solo tackles last year stands
as the most in Kohawk history. Harrison was also a First Team
All-Iowa Conference selection last year.
Zweifel, who transferred to Dubuque this season from Wisconsin-River
Falls, was a D3football.com All-West Region and First Team All-WIAC
selection in each of his seasons at River Falls. Last year,
he led the WIAC in receptions with 79 and receiving yards with
974. He caught four touchdown passes. He averaged 12.3 yards
per catch and averaged 108.2 receiving yards per game. He was
named the WIAC Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 6, 2008,
after helping the Falcons beat Wisconsin-Stevens Point, 36-30.
He caught 16 passes for 139 yards and scored twice on receptions
of 17 and 18 yards. He was named the team's Offensive Player
of the Week four times and Special Teams Player of the Week
once during the season. In his career, he has caught 176 passes
for 2,030 yards and 13 touchdowns. Zweifel was a Second Team
D3football.com All-West Region selection in 2007 and a Third
Team selection last season.
D3Football.com
enters its 11th year of covering all aspects of NCAA Division
III college football on a national level.
