RAPIDS, IOWA . . . Eight Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic
Conference (IIAC) women’s soccer players were named to
the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)
All-North Region Team announced Monday, December 7. Wartburg sophomore midfielder Katy Wendt (Bettendorf, Iowa/Pleasant Valley) led the league's representatives, being named to the First Team.
University of Dubuque junior defender Sidney Rangel (Rockford, Ill./Boylan Catholic) and junior forward Sara Fassbinder (Dubuque, Iowa/Wahlert Catholic), Loras College sophomore midfielder Jessica Kern (Elmhurst, Ill./Montini Catholic), Luther College sophomore forward Dani Meirick (Pella, Iowa/Pella), and Wartburg College senior midfielder Lauren Thomas (Winnebago, Ill./Winnebago) were named to the Second Team, while Loras sophomore forward Kate Young (Roscoe, Ill./Hononegah) and Luther junior midfielder Anna Grinde (Madison, Wis./Verona Area) were selected to the Third Team.
All eight players were named First Team All-Iowa Conference in November with Fassbinder picking up Most Valuable Player honors. In addition, Meirick was a Third Team All-Central Region pick in 2008.
